Please read the amendment at the bottom of this review. The AA was called out on 23.03.21. Several hours later someone arrived and proceeded to try and diagnose the fault. Unfortunately whilst carrying out computerised diagnostics he managed to delete every single one of the error fault codes without ever managing to get the car going. The car was recovered to a main dealer and I am now having to spend hundreds of pounds whilst a mechanic tries to work out what the issue is without access to any of the vital error codes. Thank you AA this has now become a much bigger and more expensive problem than it need have been, and I am still without a car 6 days later. In future please alert your paying customers of this potential problem before going ahead and deleting important information from the on board computer. What do you suggest I do now?............I would like to add that the AA got in touch within 24hrs of this complaint and have been extremely helpful in addressing the issue and compensating me for some of the costs incurred. Thank you very much, you redeemed yourselves.

A word of warning to anybody thinking of taking out an AA breakdown policy! Having been an AA member for three years I was shocked when I broke down and told that I was within a quarter of a mile from my home address and would have to purchase "home start" before they send out a recovery van.I knew that that could not be correct so while on the phone to them I checked my Waze app and discovered that i was in fact 2.8 miles from my home. They would not accept this fact and I did have to purchase home start for £100 ! I wrote a complaint to the AA and although they did eventually refund me but stated that they "do not uphold my complaint" and do not accept that I was at that distance when I reported the brake down.I am sure there are instances that the AA have had to deal with when someone has limped their car to a distance so they can avoid purchasing home start but I can assure anyone reading this that this was NOT the case with me.When I purchase breakdown insurance all I expect is immediate help when I break down I do not expect to be accused of fraud! I assume that I can not be the only person that has had this experience and I'm sure I wont be the last. Needles to say I have terminated my contract with the AA and will forever recall this story whenever the subject of which break down company to use comes up.I am left absolutely disgusted with my experience I received from the AA.Also I would like to add if there was an option of zero stars thats what I would have put.And a last note, I have joined Green Flag for half the price of the AA with home start included.Good luck AA !In regards to the reply that the AA have given to this review.Do not insult me by turning this around and trying to make out that the problem here is my unhappiness of the terms and conditions.I have not written this review because I am unhappy about the terms and conditions of the cover!I have written this review because YOU accused me of breaking the terms and conditions of the cover. This is not the case. I repeat, I broke down 2.8 miles from my home address and you would not accept this.I have written an honest account of my experience with you.

After a frustrating start to reporting a breakdown the service was excellent

Good customer service. Easy to understand and helpful staff. Not quite as cheap as other brands but worth a small difference for the comfort of the name and good service.

Very nice fella who attended fox me Ben no problem.

The AA provided very good service, however the wait time was a little longer than I would have expected.
